Sharapova withdrew from the U.S. Open
Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova, third in the world rankings, has decided not to perform at the U.S. Open, which begins Monday in New York.
Four-time Grand Slam champion has played just one match since losing in the second round of Wimbledon, and the reason for the failure of the U.S. Open on his Facebook page said the damage to his right shoulder.
"I just want to inform you that the withdrawal from the U.S. Open was a very difficult decision. Did everything I could after Wimbledon so I recovered, but there simply was not enough time," said Sharapova.
